About the Item
Bring color and symbolism to your wall decor with this expressive antique majolica charger. Crafted in Italy circa 1920, the hand-molded and hand-painted terracotta plate depicts Saint John the Evangelist holding a quill and writing in his open book, accompanied by an eagle, the traditional emblem of his divine vision and spiritual insight. The raised composition is surrounded by a decorative border adorned with applied flowers, foliage, and beaded detailing. This richly glazed ceramic piece showcases a luminous palette of yellow, cobalt blue, green, and earthy brown, with a wonderful glossy patina throughout. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, the piece includes a brass wall hanger for easy display.
