Early 20th Century Mounted Pressed Flower Collection A nice collection of 12 highly decorative pressed flowers. Mounted and dated 1921to 1922 with specimen details hand written on labels as shown in the photos provided. The label details the name of the flower, location it was picked, native place of growth, tribe of specimen the flower relates to and the person who picked it. This collection would look amazing hung in a hallway. In the early 20th century, pressed flowers were a popular art form and keepsake, often used in albums, souvenir books, and even as part of botanical research and education. Oshibana, the art of using pressed flowers to create pictures, also gained popularity, especially in the Holy Land, where souvenir books combined photographs of holy sites with pressed flowers from those locations. Dimensions of frame: H 20” x W 16” x D 0.8” Age: Early 20th Century Origin: EU Condition: Fair In overall very presentable good solid condition, staining on mounted paper, some flowers are worn and faded as shown, the paper mounts are aged along the edge also. Mounted in new plastic framed displays (ready to hang).
