About the Item
Antique early 19th century. (1800 -1820s) framed European Tempera painting on a plate under glass in the original frame.
Depiction of a happy family posing. The painting is signed "E. Larsen", likely Swedish or Danish work. The artist skillfully shows the characters of three related people, paying much attention to the facial features, hairdo, delicate hands, and smallest details of her period dress.
Sized 14.5 cm x 9.5 cm unframed/ 17.7 cm x 12.7 cm framed.
The frame is wooden with bone panels attached, the wood dried out with time and became a bit concave /deformed causing the glass plate to crack to release the tension. The plate under the glass is intact. I never tried to open it, the back side is sealed with glued textile cover. That's possible to change the frame and glass.
