Spectacular optical wall light / light sculpture, France, circa 1968–72.
Executed in brushed aluminium, smoked plexiglass and layered acrylic plates in deep cobalt blue and transparent tones, arranged in a concentric geometric composition. Once lit, the piece creates a powerful kinetic-optical effect with multicolored reflections (blue, red and yellow), transforming the surrounding space with a futuristic, almost cosmic aura.
This work embodies the spirit of the Op Art / Art Cinétique movement that flourished in France in the late 1960s, when designers and artists explored artificial light as sculptural matter. Comparable to the experiments of Philippe Jean, Jean-Pierre Vitrac and the aesthetics promoted by Galerie Denise René, it sits at the intersection of lighting design and contemporary art.
A rare and striking piece, perfect for collectors of radical 1970s design or for high-impact interior projects.
