About the Item
French, 20th century plaster reproduction wall-mounted planters of stylized Medusa figures–not with an abundance of snakes emanating from her head but a thick mane of acanthus. Spiraling volutes project from her crown as natural complement to the Neoclassical leaves cast in high-relief, framing the exposed face that is smooth and frozen with her penetrating gaze. A shallow cavity in the tops of the busts allow these wall decorations to double as planters for live or faux greenery. Note that one of the visages is patinated with rusty oxidation, please view the detailed images to see the current condition. Sold as a pair.
