About the Item
Large wooden sculptural triptych by Nerone Ceccarelli, Italy ca. 1978. Unique wall relief showing a variety of carved organic and free-form geometric shapes arranged into a harmonious composition. Observing the work, the large circle positioned at the center catches the eye at first sight; continuing the observation, the other monumental shapes, refined details, carvings, structured surfaces, and its different levels come into view. It's actually the large-scale forms that really make this work stand out from other works made in the NP2 period, the time Nerone and Patuzzi worked together. They stopped their collaboration in 1974–75; Nerone continued solo after that period and returned to his personal style, putting more attention and handcraft into his works.
A great effort and conviction has been put into this work. Besides that, the tones used are a bit lighter and warmer. Nerone used a special technique to bring the wood to life: the wood was polished and darkened through friction during the labor process and rubbed in with multiple layers of colored wax. This method resulted in a typical deep and rich finish with various gradients and color tones. Provided with a certificate of authenticity by the Nerone Ceccarelli Archive. The work remains in excellent condition.
