About the Item
An Italian decorative wall art tile. The hand painted design in ceramic relief by Luciano Creations, features Mediterranean houses in bright colors. Marked in the back ‘Creationi Luciano Italy’.
Lamberto Tastardi, a.k.a. “Luciano” studied with prof. Rossi from 1940, working as a ceramic decorator with ceramic factories such as D’Agostino and Ernestine, and Musa in Vietri sul Mare. In 1955, Luciano started his own business, “Creazioni Luciano”. He invented a new technique with ceramics similar to Cloisonné; a relief drawing, into which the colour and the transparent glazes are hand-applied inside the closed cells of the design, lying perfectly flush after firing. The technique’s concept, also similar to stained glass, uses white clay that highlights the drawing and stands as the ideal basis to enhance the colored enamels. This technique made him famous both in Italy and abroad.
