About the Item

Fine original Arts Crafts framed enamel plaque signed. "G. Halliday" and attributed to Elkington Co. The artist sculptor George Halliday was employed by Elkington Co in the late 19th Century. The plaque is in remarkably good condition still framed in its smart ebonised and gilt frame. "The designer, Mr. Halliday, who is a member of Messrs. Elkington’s staff, studied in Edinburgh, and worked for some time in Sheffield. He has exhibited at the Academy and at the Arts and Crafts." Source: The Magazine of Art - 1904
