About the Item

A very attractive pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Terra Cotta plaques, modeled after Clodion. This most elegant pair of plaques depict the seasons and Spring and Winter set within mottled patinated Wood frames. Spring showcases a classical maiden in a pasture playing with flowers and placing a floral wreath on the head of a charming cherub. Winter displays a maiden seated while cutting wheat, with a cherub next to her pulling down on the stalks. Wonderfully decorative with all original patina throughout.
