About the Item

A high quality and most decorative pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. Ormolu and patinated Bronze wall decor/plates. Each most elegant and octagonal shaped charger displays a wonderful Japonisme style central design of sporting dogs and fowl. Each plate showcases a decorative outer border of foliate scrolls and fruits amidst griffins and Rinceau scrolls. One plate displays two birds perched on brown patinated branches with dark patinated blossoming flowers with green patinated leaves. The other is of pointer hunting dogs racing in a forest with foliage and various trees on a patinated background and green patinated vegetation.

Each piece features a cartouche shaped frame, richly moulded with a host of Baroque style detailing, including putti, acanthus leaves, and scrolling forms. Each applique is centred with a similarly shaped mirror, and each is adorned below with twin gilt bronze light branches, with each branch modelled in an ornately scrolling and foliate manner.
