About the Item

A wonderful and extremely decorative pair of French 19th century patinated Bronze plaques, after a model by Clodion. Each rectangular plaque depicts jovial scenes or cherubs playing with musical instruments, picking flowers, dancing and classical figures drinking wine. The left plaque displays a wonderful scene of the god Bacchus being pulled in a chariot with cherubs and classical figures following. Additional maidens can be seen in the background playing musical instruments while a satyr is in the forefront carrying a basket of fruit. Wonderful expressions, and rich and warm patina throughout.
