About the Item
John Powell (American, b. 1930), "Thoughts of Spring", serigraph on paper, pencil signed "John Powell" at lower right, numbered "AP, 10/60" at lower left.
In this work the focal point includes an array of blooming flowers, carefully arranged in distinct patterned vases that reflect both Western and Eastern artistic traditions. The attention to detail in the textures of the petals and the patterns on the vases reflect Powell's meticulous style. This is further enhanced by the layering of florals, each with unique coloring and botanical characteristics. The arrangement sits on a violet-colored cloth with additional objects like decorative planters in the scene.
The artist's signature in the lower right-hand and the "AP 10/60" marking indicates this is an artist proof (AP).
