A very fine antique Vienna style porcelain cabinet plate. Entitled "Eingeheimer Auftrag", which translates in English as "A Secret Assignment". Depicted in the central cartouche is an image of a young woman being attended to by a cherub/putti. The woman is seated at the edge of a garden and appears to be making a request of the cherub who is leisurely perched on the rail fence with a pensive look. Signed to the lower right 'H. Zutzka'. Made in England circa 1810, this Minton porcelain dish is a masterpiece of English Regency chinoiserie. The hand-painted scene exhibits vibrant colors, intricate details, and a playful spirit. The dish shows three young boys playing on a seesaw. The boys display a delightful childish innocence. Jean-Baptiste Pillement's drawings inspired this Minton image ( for more on Pillement, see below). The last image shows an image of Pillement's work.
