About the Item

Polo oil painting "At The Polo Match", By Alberto Rossi. This is a beautiful colourful original oil on board painting by renowned Italian artist Alberto Rossi (1858-1936) in its original oak frame. The polo oil is signed 'A. Rossi' and indistinctly dated. The scene depicts a polo player dressed in blue talking to a well dressed gentleman in top hat tails with a pair of binoculars around his neck. He is accompanied by his wife who is equally well dressed holding a parasol umbrella. Other polo players are milling around, one can be seen drinking from a hip flask. In the background you can just make out a large group of spectators in front of the line of trees, location unknown but could easily be Hurlingham park in London. Alberto Rossi (1858-1936) was an Italian painter born in Turin, a portrait artist and landscape painter and he was extremely popular with the public.
