Custom framed 19th century botanical engravings from "Sowerby's English Botany, or, Coloured Figures of British Plants". Sowerby was a famous English naturalist, illustrator and mineralogist. Original engravings from the 1866 edition, set of two. Plates included: Verbaseum pulverulentum (Hoary Mullein) and Lycium barbarum (tea-plant/matrimony vine/goji-berry).

James Sowerby
James Sowerby (21 March 1757 – 25 October 1822) was an English naturalist, illustrator and mineralogist. Contributions to published works, such as "A Specimen of the Botany of New Holland" or "English Botany", include his detailed and appealing plates. The use of vivid colour and accessible texts were intended to reach a widening audience in works of natural history. The standard author abbreviation Sowerby is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name.
