About the Item

A charming and extremely decorative true pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period patinated wood and Mecca wall plaques. Each large scale oval plaque is framed within an elegant mottled Mecca border centering the beautiful patinated off white background centered by exceptional musical instruments. One plaque displays richly carved trumpets, a tambour drum, a tambourine and symbols amidst open music books with a fanciful intertwined ribbons tied in a bow at the top. The other plaque displays equally rich and enjoyable giltwood carvings of instruments such as a lute, a harp guitar, a pan flute, maracas, castanets, and sheet music. All original Mecca and patina throughout.
