Wall Decoration Fine Silk and Metallic Threads Tapestry in Black Wood Frame - Scythian
The Art of the great contemporary artist, one of the geniuses in creating images in the style of Mannerism for modern interiors Mikhail Verkholansev.
The work of the artist is a contemporary representation of the ancient Scythian people's image made in the form of a grotesque, almost reminiscent of the pop art style of an entirely different level.
The work is raised on the level of artistic perception on the edge, where couture starts. It is undoubtedly a decoration and dominant for any modern interior, representing a great artistic value.
The work is made in mixed technique as hand made embroidery in silk with golden threads mixed with intersecting lines, symbolizing the link between the cultures of many nations of the world, collected here in the image of a Scythian nomad or Scythian deity, who looks at us through the ages into today.
The Scythians were extremely warlike, and it is believed that the construction of the Great Wall of China in the 2nd century BC was intended to contain their raids into the East. Gold ornaments and everyday objects, which fuse decorative forms of Asian and Greek origin, are full of images of violent military skirmishes and testify to the fact that the Scythians made their raids on neighboring countries in order to seize booty.
Black wood
An ancient lacquer technique invented in China 2000 years ago was used for this artwork. It is a natural material, the sap of the lacquer tree, known only in the Far East. In China, it began to be used in ancient times as a protective material and then for artistic purposes. The lacquers were painted, inlaid, engraved, gold, and the most complex were multi-layered lacquers.
Lacquer existed in many colors by adding certain chemicals to the resin, for example, black was obtained by adding carbon like in this work.
Layer after layer of translucent lacquers are applied to the surface of the ebony to produce a glass effect on the surface. Today, only a few craftsmen have mastered this almost forgotten technique. The frame itself becomes a natural extension of the design and an integral part of the artwork.
