18th century Italian drawing, "The Theological Virtues" in pen and brow ink, blue washes. By Fidele Fischetti, Naples 1732 - 1792. A good size drawing in an 18th century gilt wood frame.

These virtues appear together in a well-known passage: “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). They are often called “theological” because each one is directed toward God. They serve as foundational graces, shaping the entire character and purpose of those who practice them.
Fedele Gioffredo Fischetti (30 March 1732, Naples – 25 January 1792, Naples) was an Italian painter of the Neoclassical period. Most of his works are frescoes of an allegorical or mythological nature. His work shows the influence of Pompeo Batoni.
Fischetti produced a number of drawings during his career; these are remarkable for the excellent quality of execution and the fineness of line.
