About the Item
Sensuous and vividly-hued, this pastel drawing of a standing male nude with his head resting against the wall was made by Allyn Cox, son of the famous muralist Kenyon Cox. The younger Allyn was important in his own right for executing an ambitious set of murals for the U.S. Capitol Building, as well as a set of wall murals and a decorated coffered ceiling for the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library at UCLA in 1925. The drawing was probably executed in preparation for a mural, and comes from a major collection of Cox's drawings. The medium is pastel on paper.
