Le Dresseur et l'Eléphant du Cirque Bouglione (The Elephant Trainer at The Circus Bouglione) is a w/c and pastel Illustration by André Legrand-Chabrier. André Legrand-Chabrier (1876-1945) was a French novelist, journalist, illustrator and chronicler of the French circus. The illustration is of a lady dressed in red riding an elephant next to the ringmaster. Chabrier chronicled the Paris circus and was the Secrétaire Général in charge of it's press and public relations. It is framed with a House of Heydenryk silver gilt frame a brown mat and protective glass. Image 14" W x 17.75" H.
The Bouglione Circus was established in 1934 by the Bouglione brothers at The Winter Circus (Cirque d'Hiver) located at 110 rue Amelot in Paris.

André Legrand-Chabrier
André Legrand-Chabrier was a French novelist, journalist, illustrator and chronicler of the French circus. He held positions of administrative responsibility at the ABC, then at the Cirque Médrano, as an administrator, until 1932. On the death of his friend Jean-Marcel Chabrier, son of musician Emmanuel Chabrier, Legrand became the heir of copyright and moral rights over their common work. Consequently associating his name with that of his friend, he signed his articles and works under the pseudonym, Legrand-Chabrier.
