About the Item
Superbly conceived and executed, this Mid Century drawing of a young man, probably African American and/or Hispanic, shows the artist's ability to create a mood, capturing the subject's pensiveness and gravity. His heavy-lidded eyes and melancholy expression are beautifully rendered in charcoal and other media -- perhaps watercolor -- and the dark palette of black and ruddy browns gives the portrait weight and formality. The drawing is signed in the lower lefthand corner, but it is difficult to decipher. Dimensions include matte and frame; visible drawing is 24 inches high by 18 inches wide.
