About the Item

Add charm and color to a sitting room or hallway with this elegant pair of lithographs by renowned French artist Louis Icart. Printed in France circa 1947 by Draeger, Imp., each artwork captures a romantic Belle Époque scene filled with grace and light: one depicts two fashionable ladies taking tea in a garden, while the other shows an elegant couple enjoying a leisurely promenade beneath lush greenery. Both pieces are signed in the lower right corner by the artist. Each drawing on paper is set under glass within an ornate carved and painted frame, adorned with a lightly distressed ivory finish and gilt inner border. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with soft pastel tones and lively brushwork characteristic of Icart’s refined Art Deco sensibility. Louis Justin Laurent Icart (1888–1950) was a celebrated French painter, illustrator, and etcher, famed for his romantic portrayals of Parisian women and the sophisticated elegance of early 20th-century life. Educated in Toulouse, Icart moved to Paris in 1907 and soon became one of the leading figures of the Art Deco movement. His works, influenced by fashion, theater, and the allure of modern femininity, remain timeless emblems of French glamour. Measures: 29" W × 26.5" H each.
