Executed in meticulous pen and ink, the drawing features a central asymmetrical form layered with fine stippling and texture, juxtaposed against a dense field of concentric circular marks. The balance between organic pattern and geometric precision creates a contemplative, almost meditative rhythm. The surrounding field suggests a cosmic or cellular atmosphere, framing the central shape like a quiet anchor within a dynamic universe. From a private collection; acquired directly from the artist. Paul VerBurg is a multidisciplinary artist trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Now based in Okemos, Michigan, VerBurg explores sculpture, assemblage, and abstract painting rooted in natural and physical forms. His work—ranging from plein air landscapes to genre-blending abstractions—has been exhibited nationally at institutions including the Eiteljorg Museum and the Autry Museum, and featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West. Active since the 1980s, his practice reflects a continual evolution of media and subject.
