A contemporary pen and ink drawing over acrylic monoprint on paper "Untitled 36" by Paul VerBurg. Hand signed lower right. The composition layers gestural acrylic washes of red, green, and blue with intricate inked patterns, stippling, and biomorphic forms. The result is a microcosmic visual field—part topographical map, part cellular structure—where line and color pulse with rhythmic energy. Organic textures and abstract contours invite open-ended interpretation, reinforcing VerBurg’s ongoing exploration of the physical world’s unseen systems through abstraction. Paul VerBurg is a multidisciplinary artist trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Now based in Okemos, Michigan, VerBurg explores sculpture, assemblage, and abstract painting rooted in natural and physical forms. His work—ranging from plein air landscapes to genre-blending abstractions—has been exhibited nationally at institutions including the Eiteljorg Museum and the Autry Museum, and featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West. Active since the 1980s, his practice reflects a continual evolution of media and subject.
