Portrait Study, Drawing of a Greek Head or Bust, 1940s. Stunning drawing of a Greek profile ! Signed at the bottom right corner by the name of the artist "V. Lacasia". The drawing demonstrates a masterful use of pencil shading, with a highly accomplished interplay of light and shadow that creates a stunning sense of depth. The subtle gradients and carefully placed highlights sculpt the facial features, making the portrait appear almost three-dimensional. The precision of the shading enhances the realism, giving the impression that the figure is about to emerge from the surface of the paper. Additionally, the drawing is executed on laid paper (vergé), which features fine, closely spaced lines that form a subtle grid-like texture in the background. Note : the drawing is an original and unique piece (not a print). Framed in a contemporary light oak veneer frame. Protected at the front by a matte white mat and a real glass (not acrylic). The artwork is in good condition. It should be noticed that the tracing paper has some stains, due to its age (see photos and use the zoom-in tool to see it clearly).
