About the Item
This 1974 ink drawing on paper is by American sculptor Mark di Suvero (b. 1933). Early in his artistic career, working part time in construction, he was inspired by the raw material on the building site. Using steel, timber, and wire cable, along with scrap metal and discarded tires, he developed the structural language for which he has become known. In this small drawing we see the bold forms and strong directional which are the foundation of di Suvero's trademark large-scale sculptures.
