About the Item

17th Century large baroque painting of the passing and last communion of Saint Jerome. Representation of the dying holy man, attended by angels and surrounded by his disciples while the skull on floor is an attribute of the saint. Standing next to him is a female figure representing the Marian virtue of faith (Mary's complete trust in God) or possibly a guardian angel. Age related craquelure throughout. Old repairs. Painting will benefit from a surface cleaning which we leave to discretion of buyer. Measurements are taken at widest points.
