A THANGKA DEPICTING AMITAYUS, 18TH CENTURY
Tibet. Distemper on cloth, with a silk brocade frame, mounted as a hanging scroll with wood handles. Finely painted with Amitayus seated in dhyanasana atop a lotus throne, his hands in bhumisparsamudra, a vajra resting on his left palm, dressed in loose-fitting robes, billowing scarves, and wearing elaborate jewelry, his face with a serene expression, wearing a foliate crown. Surrounded by 107 emanations of himself.
Condition: Commensurate with age, with some old wear and soiling, minor abrasions and creasing, losses, some with associated minuscule touchups.
Provenance: Hungarian Private collection.
