Charming C20th framed Swedish still life oil painting on canvas of a domestic table.
The scene features a striking display of beautiful pink tinged white peonies surrounded by sweet williams sitting on a table with a pipe and tobacco by reading material set against a striated blue background.
Signed and dated 1939 on the reverse of the canvas by swedish artist Gideon Borje (1891-1965) who travelled extensively in europe throughout his career and was known for his modernist style and classic traditions.
