About the Item

Created in the 1940s, this painting has an air of nostalgia and foreboding. It depicts a house set against the backdrop of not-so-distant skyscrapers. The city fades into gray in contrast to the house which looms large in the foreground, a house you might encounter in a dark countryside or a moody suburb. It's an evocative scene. Oil on canvas. Signed "W. Kaley" at lower right. Dimensions: 25 in. width 30 in. height 1 in. depth.
