A lovely pair of superbly decorative Chinoiserie black lacquer panels, exquisitely gilt-decorated with exotic birds, perched on a tree. 19th century.

The exquisite decoration of these lacquer panels is simply superb; a very decorative pair of pictures.
Such luxurious items were popular in England during the height of fashion for oriental exoticism, called chinoiserie in Europe. Available to order through best luxury goods retailers of the era, such exquisite items as lacquerware, botanical gouaches or reverse-painted glass pictures, were manufactured in China and Japan to be shipped to Britain.
