About the Item

19th century framed painting of family crests was hand-painted in the late 19th century and framed in the 20th century. The artist used ink and water colors to create the beautiful jewel tone coloration. The Latin inscription below translates to: "Bravely and Honorably Stand Fast Together Forever". The crests indicate two families joined together by marriage. Family crests were important legacies of families who had some sort of ties to nobility, and were a sign of prestige and pride to those who could rightfully claim their heritage, circa 1880s Measures 47H x 35.5W
