Celebrate the timeless beauty of florals with this refined 19th-century French still life painting, rendered in oil on canvas and presented in its original carved and giltwood frame. The composition features a lush bouquet of blooming poppies in varying hues of pink, lavender, white, and coral, meticulously detailed against a soft, neutral background. The brushwork is delicate yet expressive, capturing both the fragility and vitality of each petal and leaf with remarkable precision. Executed in the manner of Paul de Longpré (1855–1911), a French-born American artist celebrated for his floral subjects, the painting reflects the influence of academic naturalism blended with a romantic sensibility. Though unsigned, the work demonstrates a masterful control of light, form, and texture characteristic of de Longpré’s school and period. The canvas remains on its original stretcher with visible age patina to the reverse, bearing stencil marks and signs of period authenticity.
