A refined and luminous 19th century still life painting, attributed to Eugène Petit (1838–1886), a French painter celebrated for his exquisitely detailed floral compositions. Executed in oil on panel, this vibrant work presents a rich bouquet of red, pink, and blue flowers arranged in a white porcelain jardinière with delicate blue edging. The expressive brushwork and sense of freshness are hallmarks of Petit's hand.
Eugène Petit was active in Paris during the second half of the 19th century and exhibited regularly at the Salon from 1863 onwards. Known for his mastery in capturing the natural beauty of flowers, his works are sought after for their balance of technical precision and romantic atmosphere.
The painting is signed “Petit” in the lower right and is offered in its original 19th century giltwood frame, richly carved and beautifully preserved. The ornate frame, with its deep profile and fine detailing, enhances the charm and quality of this intimate still life.
