A striking early 20th century impressionist portrait of a gentleman, executed with oil on cardboard
laid down on artist board, set within a very fine water gilded frame with burnished
matte highlights.
Panel dimensions, 9.5” h x 7.75” w, frame dimensions 15.75" h x 13.5" w.
Although apparently unsigned, this work is highly consistent with the large body of portraits by the well listed German Impressionist artist Max Slevogt (1868-1932), as demonstrated in its execution, composition
use of materials that the artist is very much associated with when working during this period.
