Alexander Michael Oil Painting – Neumarkt St. Veit, 1978
This oil painting from 1978 presents a charming view of the small Bavarian town of Neumarkt-Sankt Veit. The prominent church with its onion dome tower dominates the center, surrounded by other historic buildings. The foreground meadow, painted in green and golden hues, evokes a calm rural feeling. A few scattered trees and a pair of sunflowers on the left add texture and detail. Tiny figures with a agricultural tension subtly animate the peaceful scene. The sky, with its dramatic cloud formations, is rendered in expressive brushstrokes, adding depth and energy. Oil on Canvas. Signed lower right 'A M 78'. Presented in an antique black wooden frame, which shows some minor damage, adding a vintage character to the piece.
Alexander Michael (1939-2024) was a German landscape, still life and architectural painter. His paintings can be stylistically assigned to Impressionism or a late Impressionist style. His loose painting style, applied with a sure hand, creates a lively and atmospheric effect with visible brushstrokes and bright colors. The light conditions, color tones and the artist's subjective perception are characteristic of his works.
