The Sick Old Man (Den syge gamle mand), 1882
Etching on paper, plate signed and dated “Carl Bloch 1882”. As this print in signed in print and not by pencil, this could be printed a bit later than 1882.
Presented in period mat and black wooden frame
A finely executed etching by the celebrated Danish artist Carl Heinrich Bloch, dated 1882 and bearing the artist’s signature and date in the plate. The work, titled The Sick Old Man (Den syge gamle mand), depicts a reclining male figure rendered with Bloch’s characteristic sensitivity and refined draughtsmanship.
This etching dates from Bloch’s mature period and captures the quiet human emotion and introspection for which his work is renowned. The plate mark is clearly visible, and the impression displays excellent tonal range on warm, age-toned paper. The
