A vintage European floral still-life oil painting (1923–1924) with an ankh-monogram signature and antique carved frame.
A beautifully atmospheric early 20th-century floral still life sourced in France, signed with an ankh-like artist’s monogram over the stylized name Ian Koton(g)son. The verso inscription in Romanian (“Flori de nalbă”) suggests an Eastern or Central European origin. Soft mallow-like blossoms rise from a simple pitcher, rendered with refined brushwork and a subtle textured surface against a deep, moody background.
The painting is presented in an exceptional carved antique wooden frame—likely original—featuring rich botanical carving, warm aged gilding, and excellent decorative presence.
This artwork is in good antique condition. The painting itself has not been cleaned, preserving its original surface and atmospheric depth. The gilded frame has received a few touch-ups over the years to maintain its visual integrity, yet it shows no structural issues.
