About the Item

The category antique paintings is oil paintings on canvas from the 19th century, 19th century. It depicts an Interior Scene, a nineteenth-century setting with a Man Elderly man reading books in his study. The antique painting is signed Leleux Armand, a French painter. Leleux Armand Hubert Simon ( 1818-1895), was born in Paris and was a pupil of Ingres with whom he made a trip to Rome. He routinely exhibited at the "Salon De Paris" where he received many medals in 1844, 1847,1848 and 1859. He stayed in Germany and Switzerland where he participated in all the exhibitions in these countries. Its interiors are highly valued. Currently, many works by this artist are kept in many museums in France. The antique painting bears a Beautiful Gilt Frame in pure gold leaf, original and coeval to the antique work. The antique canvas and frame of the painting have been professionally restored.
