About the Item

This is an original antique oil on plate still life flower painting by artist Yelva Vermehren (1878-1981). Yelva Vermehren (1878-1981) was known especially for still lifes, floral compositions, and occasionally portraits. Her work typically features realistic style, soft color palettes, and a refined sense of detail. She exhibited with the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in Copenhagen, a prominent venue for Danish artists. This painting shows a still life of colourful pansies and forget-me-nots arranged in a woven basket, sitting on a wooden surface. The colors are soft but vivid, with a gentle play of light that gives a calm and refined atmosphere. The painting is signed in the bottom right corner and on the brass plate on the frame. It is estimated to be from the 1920s. It is in very good condition with limited wear according to age. Please see the close up photos..
