Antonio DeVity (Italian, 1901–1993) Venetian Canal Scene – Oil on Canvas A mid-20th century Venetian canal scene by Antonio DeVity, the pseudonym of Neapolitan artist Umberto Marone. DeVity is known for his atmospheric cityscapes of Venice and Paris, rendered in a fluid impressionistic style with impasto highlights and richly textured architectural detail. This composition features gondolas gliding along the Grand Canal, flanked by ornate palazzi, with a view toward a distant bridge. Executed in oil on canvas and signed A. DeVity lower left. Presented in a later gilt and black frame. Dimensions: Frame: 84 x 64 cm / 33 x 25 in approx. Canvas: c. 70 x 50 cm Condition: Very good. Minor wear to frame only. Ready to hang.
