ARTIST STATEMENT
Stella Koleszár graduated in 2016 from the Department of Drawing and Art History in Szeged with a degree in visual representation, then in 2019 from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design as a glass design artist. The main media of her creative practice are glass and paper-based works, whose starting point is the instinctiveness of drawing. In her glass pieces, she explores themes such as allegorical interpretations of sin and the Fall, as well as symbolic phenomena related to myths and fairy tales, which range from the personal to the universal. In her collages, she is interested in the happenings of the plant world and in questions concerning the human-centred perception of weeds. In 2020, she was an artist-in-residence in Salzburg, supported by the Budapest Gallery. In 2023, she received the Elle Deco EDIDA Young Talent of the Year award. In 2024, she represented Hungary as a glass artist at the international glass art symposium in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czech Republic, organized under the auspices of UNESCO. Alongside her individual artistic practice, she also participates in community projects in the field of street art under the name Muralinas.
