About the Item
Beautiful work of art by the Belgian artist Charles Bonnardeaux. The work dates from 1995, it is a combination of collage and oil paint on board. The title of the work is 'Cartes Postale', which means Postcards. The work is a collection of all kinds of cheerfully painted postcards, edited with parts from original old postcards. This work of art is a good example of the nineties style due to its use of color and expressive style. The work is framed in a simple gold frame.
Charles Bonnardeaux (1930-2019) was a painter, engraver, draftsman, poet and musician. He began his training in evening classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bruges and day classes at the "Higher Painting Institute for Decorative Arts", where he learns and improves in imitation of wood and marble, in letters, advertising posters and frescoes. He also follows the engraving course of Simone Richir at the Académie de Boitsfort. He visited many studios of artists in the coastal region and in the Netherlands. Preference for dreamy, 'worlds from elsewhere' that emphasize the relativity of phenomena. His works are populated by fauns, satyrs, provocative women inspired by fantastic creatures reminiscent of the universe of Hieronymus Bosch. Attraction for human comedy. Constant references to Greek mythology, sacred history, alchemy and esotericism.
