This beautiful painting depicts the famed monumental statue by Phidias
Which stood in the cella of the Parthenon in Athens.
With flesh of ivory, and garments of solid gold, and studded with jewels,
the cult statue of the goddess of wisdom was one of the most famous works of art in the Ancient World,
The painting was reproduced in PARTHENON, a non-fiction picturebook for older kids, published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Simon
Schuster.
