About the Item

This large and important portrait contrasts a modern African American male nude with two other figures in an artist's studio: a life-size plaster sculpture and a drawing tacked to the wall. Isaacson was known for his figural painting, and this example demonstrates his full power. Note that the figure is a product of his time, even without clothing, his hair style and sideburns place him in the early 1970s.
