About the Item
Bucolic farm landscape with sheep. Entitled "Miller's Farm" by artist Ralph Schwartz. Signed lower left. Oil on canvas in a barnwood frame.
Ralph Schwartz studied fine arts at the Phoenix School of Design and printmaking at the Art Students League, both in New York. In the early 1980s, he began studying ceramics. Schwartz spent 46 years as a designer specializing in medical advertising. He retired in 1999 and devoted his time to painting and pottery. Schwartz, regularly displayed his work at Elm City Artists, an artists' cooperative in New Haven CT , and the Barn Gallery in New Fairfield.
In April 2004, (I) was commissioned by the Yale-China Association to paint four oil paintings of various Yale locations. Other commissions of Yale buildings done between November 2006 and June 2010: Davenport College.
