This rare and significant work by George Ruyter exemplifies his artistic evolution through modern art movements. Ruyter began with figurative work, including drawings, frescoes, and mosaics, before transitioning into geometric abstraction and ultimately Concrete art by 1968. A pivotal figure in Dutch art, Ruyter was a member of the Vereeniging Sint Lucas and the Amsterdam Independents. His influence was celebrated in 1974 with a dedicated exhibition at Museum Fodor in Amsterdam. Ruyter described his process in *Catalog Fodor 20*, stating: “I work with two opposing elements, forming a totality that is both static and dynamic. I call it concrete design.” This philosophy is evident in his work, where structure, material, and color unite into cohesive, dynamic compositions that exemplify his mastery of modernist principles.
