Large and impressive Constantin Kluge (French, 1912-2003) Oil on Canvas Painting in Ornate Carved Giltwood Frame. Painting is titled "La Marne a Gournay". This expansive river landscape captures the tranquil bend of the Marne near Gournay-sur-Marne just outside Paris. This area has long been admired for its natural beauty and favored by artists of the Impressionist tradition. Kluge's brushwork is characteristically expressive yet controlled, with soft atmospheric color, a silvery sky, and reflections dancing across the river. There is a grand French manor on the left bank and a tree-lined towpath with moored boats on the right, creating a serene and balanced vista. Artist signature lower right.
