About the Item
Full of joy and sunlight, this depiction of a nude male and female couple dancing on the edge of the sea with a ruined Greek temple below them, was painted by Louis Rigal, one of America and France's great Art Deco muralists. Rigal was responsible for major work at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and the Chanin Building lobby in New York and the Palmer House in Chicago. He won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1919 and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Franc¸ais where he was a member starting in 1914. (Dimensions include frame.).
