Beautiful painting, a flower still life with vibrant colors by the Belgian painter Pol C. Parmentier. Oil on canvas, the painting is framed in a wooden gilt frame, original from the same time as the painting. The back has an artist's wax seal. The painting is also dated: 1927.
Pol C. (Paul) Parmentier is a Belgian painter who was born in 1902 in Verveel.
Parmentier mainly painted and pastels flower still lifes, (forest) landscapes and genre pieces. Worked a lot with chalk and oil paint.
Parmentier is considered part of the Knok Painters Colony. This was a collective of a number of artists or a genre of painting from the last quarter of the 19th and early 20th century that focused on picturesque rural corners of the Belgian seaside resorts of Knokke (then still written Knocke), Heist (Heyst) and the surrounding area.
